  • Is Folk same as Lok?
    • Folk traditions are rooted in the customs, beliefs, and practices of specific communities, often passed down through generations and closely tied to local culture, rural life, and indigenous heritage. These traditions tend to be more organic, localized, and often informal. As we know Lok is the unified essence of entire Bharat, as one whole.
  • Why "Adivasi" is a Redundant Term?
    • The term 'Adivasi,' coined in the 1930s by political activists, was used to construct a narrative that positioned 'Vanvasi' people as indigenous inhabitants of India. This narrative claimed that they were the original inhabitants of the land, while others were migrants or invaders without Indian roots. However, the Constitution of India does not use the term 'Adivasi,' instead referring to Scheduled Tribes and Janjati.
  • Is Folk inferior to Classical?
    • The term "Classical" was introduced as part of narrative building to create a hierarchy within cultural and artistic traditions. By labeling certain works and styles as "classical," it implies that they are superior, timeless, and representative of a culture's highest achievements.
